Office of the President
Dear University Constituents:
On March 10, 2014, Salem International University received written notice that the Board of Trustees of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has reaffirmed the institution’s accreditation and scheduled the next Reaffirmation of Accreditation for academic year 2022-2023. However, the Commission also placed the University on “Notice,” a status that indicates an institution may be pursing a course of action that, if continued, could lead to its being out of compliance with one or more of the Criteria for Accreditation.
Despite the Notice status, Salem International University remains accredited and has the opportunity to demonstrate that the University remains compliant with all accreditation standards. The Higher Learning Commission’s Board of Trustees will review the progress made by the University to confirm continued compliance the Criteria for Accreditation and Core Components at its February 2015 meeting.
Our students are the core of what we do, and we are passionate about and committed to helping them gain the knowledge and skills they need for their chosen career through our innovative and flexible programs, real-world instruction, and practical experience. Our exceptional faculty members are committed to providing a top-quality educational experience for our students.
We can assure our University community that we recognize the importance of resolving the Notice status and that we will continue to work diligently to demonstrate at the February 2015 meeting that the reasons for Notice have been resolved. The University remains committed to Accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission as it has been since 1963.
